This weekend was my favorite weekend of the year, General Conference. Twice a year we can hear from leaders of our Church and give us divine instruction, advice, knowledge, etc. It is truly a wonderful weekend and a true testament to how much our Heavenly Father knows us and loves us.
Now, some talks will hit me harder than others. President Russell M. Nelson gave a talk about women in the world. He was talking about how much influence women have over the world and more importantly those around them.
President Nelson said,
Sisters, do you realize the breadth and scope of your influence when you speak those things that come to your heart and mind as directed by the Spirit?
This statement hit me like a 2×4 to the back of the head. It is amazing to me how much influence I have over my husband, how the things I say impact him. How being encouraging and positive he is able to accomplish so much.
Guidance and support from women is crucial to the world. President Nelson made it clear that women have a unique power over the world that cannot be reciprocated by man. He said,
Married or single, you sisters possess distinctive capabilities and special intuition you have received as gifts from God. We brethren cannot duplicate your unique influence.
I thought this was so profound. We women can all make a difference and it is up to us to determine what the difference is. How we raise our children, interact with our friends, interact with coworkers, church members, family members, etc. all helps to shape the world.
How do we want to leave the world? I think it is our job as women to help make this world a better place through whatever we are capable of. I think most importantly we can influence this world by just being an example. However it is you wish the world were, be that yourself. Be strong and courageous and kind for the things we say and do will profoundly impact the world.
